Thien Nhan, Miracle Baby

I still read the New Hampshire newspapers online just to keep up with the news in my old home state. The other day I came across an incredible story that I would like to summarize and share with you. It is about a little one year old baby boy who was abandoned by his young mother and left in a Vietnamese jungle to die. He was mauled by some wild animal, losing a leg and part of his genitals, and then he survived 72 hours until found by a group of monks. He was barely alive and his wounds were covered with insects.

The doctor who treated him called him Thien Nhan, or "good person."

Once he had received medical treatment, for some reason the police reunited him with his birth family, who continued to neglect him. A Vietnamese magazine editor who had heard his story searched for him and eventually found him crawling around foraging for food, covered with filth and without sufficient clothing.

The editor and her husband ended up adopting little Thien Nhan and are now in the U.S. for some continuing medical care. To see their blog and to read more about this miracle baby, go to http://www.help-thien-nhan.blogspot.com/. The photo above is from their website.

I may have trouble writing this because of the tears in my eyes -- what a precious child! And what a frightful story! Thank goodness he's with people who love him and will see that he has a good life. There are good people in the world and it's always wonderful to hear about them -- particularly these days! Thanks, Clariz

He is in houston right now. They are doing some test on him and doctors want the parents to consider making him into a girl! I am so upset!
