He was asleep, and cried when we woke him to dress and get out of the house, "why are you YELLING at me?" We blew out the pilot light in the furnace and scurried outside. The norther actually dissapated the gas, so we were safe. Gas company wouldn't come the next day until the below ground work was done by a plumber, so no heat, but a blessed fireplace. and a wonderful local plumber came over and did the work in sleet and very low temperature. By evening, we had heat again. I'll never forget it.charlotte ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10324853016206528194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4024200559736996534.post-85586194882221014742010-10-31T10:05:59.855-06:002010-10-31T10:05:59.855-06:00congratulations on being back to being one instead...congratulations on being back to being one instead of two households. SM and I did that for awhile and it was "enlightening". And congrats on handling the hard things you did while on your own. I am like the others, I thought it was Halloween or maybe an anniversary but this is wonderful .... yay for you two. I suspected the countdown gadget might be Beez's retirement. Yeah, I'm a real Nancy Drew...

LT and I went through some of that living apart during the week (still do although it's scheduling). He worked and/or studied farther than daily commuting distance on a couple of occasions during our marriage. He, of course, believes I missed him because there was no one but me to take the trash out on pickup day! So not true...he makes a mean waffle when the mood strikes, too! hehehe

Have fun and enjoy your hard-earned retirement!Deb from WhatsInMyAttichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11126246734744950335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4024200559736996534.post-52276989533962120652010-10-31T07:52:07.124-06:002010-10-31T07:52:07.124-06:00And here I thought you were just REALLY looking fo...And here I thought you were just REALLY looking forward to Halloween. What a great reason to celebrate - you and Beez can finally enjoy your retirements together. YIPPEEE!!!!!!
Clair, being on my own, I could relate to your stories of having to take care of all the things that come up on your own. Sometimes it is tough... but it looks like you've made the best of it. I got a tear in my eye when I learned you were on your own when Bertie Pierre died, imagined how scared I would be when the storm came through ( I think that was the same storm we got in Clovis later that evening when I was considering hunkering down in the bathtub!) and smiled when you talked about the big guys w/ tattoos being your friends :)
What a wonderful time, now for you & Beez!
Enjoy your wonderful Celebration!!!!
:)beckyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02070619577137197512noreply@blogger.com
