More Neighborhood Photos

Here are some more photos taken on walks around our new neighborhood, just outside Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The best cactus--we don't see many of this kind around here

Decoration on a rural mailbox

Red-roofed hacienda with a lovely view of the Doña Ana Mountains

Another big adobe house, nestled under shade trees

We are so pleased to be so close to a source of fresh chile. We smelled the roasters when we first visited the house.

A view of "the ditch." I'll have some photos of it full of water in the spring.

Chile fields-to-be?

A corral with a view

I love the plants and trees here!

  3. Bryan LOVED the palm trees down there. I wish there was some kind of something in his field for him to do down there - we'd move in a heart beat... just for the palms. HAHA

Have you made it to the Ranch museum yet???

  4. Thank you for your nice comments and for bearing with my enthusiasm! No, Soggy, we haven't been to the Farm and Ranch Museum yet, but it's on the list. The nice thing is that we have lots of time for everything. We have just started our series of field trips to greenhouses and nurseries, and someone we talked to today said that the Museum has a nice Chihuahuan Desert garden.

So much stuff to see! I'll keep reporting on everything. I have so many photos right now that I really need to do some catching up on the blog, but as life is starting to feel a little more settled now that the boxes are unpacked, I should get back into some kind of schedule soon.

Thank you for reading and commenting!

  5. What a lovely area - so open, and yet ringed with mountains on the horizon. And what a treat to see sunny blue skies just now!
