November Colors

Coming from New England, where the frost can hit any time starting in mid-September and my Massachusetts friends are reporting snow on the ground as we speak, it still surprises me that November colors can come in:

Tomato reds...

... and tomato yellows...

Squash greens...

and chile reds!

All of the above photos were taken at the Las Cruces Farmers Market last weekend...

... but these luscious reds and greens are from my very own garden, picked just in case we have a mid-November frost.

  1. Chile red is my favorite color. And look at those tack-sharp tomatoes... something's changed inside that camera of yours.

  2. Thanks for noticing, Linda. One thing is that I've started wearing my glasses to focus (!); another thing is that the tomatoes, unlike Little Pete, stood still for their picture.

  3. Looks like a great harvest from your garden. Love all the November colors, but the chili ristras are so festive and are true New Mexico flavor! :)

  5. Love the colors, to say nothing of those great clear pics! I'd love to have some of those green tomatoes. I'd fry them after dusting with a little flour and a bit of cornmeal, then add a nice onion relish to serve them...OH, sorry, dreaming again!

Great job on the pics of the chilis, too!

  7. Love the colors, Clair. My mom's still got green tomatoes on the vine in Southern Cal. We just had homemade pasta sauce from the ripe one's. Talk about Yum!!
