February 2011: Dark skies, New Mexico style |
Nothing says Old Mesilla like the texture of thick adobe walls, dried strings of red chiles, old brick sidewalks, and that dark blue New Mexican sky. For skies of every color all around the world, please visit Skywatch Friday.
Great shot, Clair! Love the texture & contrast!
ReplyDeleteTruly gorgeous! Great colour.
ReplyDeleteFantastic, Clair!! Superb composition, the incredible BLUE skies, wonderful colors and last but not least, the peppers! I love them!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great weekend! Enjoy!

The desert southwest is so much fun to photograph your shots are making me anxious for our upcoming tour (I do hope congress doesn't spoil it by shutting down the parks).
ReplyDeleteI just love the title of your post. There's something about those two words together, 'dark skies', that sends a shiver down my spine.
ReplyDeleteEverything about this shot is so exotic to me - the pavement construction, the chillis, even the telegraph pole - or are they electric wires? To say nothing of dark blue skies.
Yes, I was impressed by your topology lecture!
really really would love to visit nm someday. lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot!

I'm hooked not only with the blue sky but the adobe buildings and perspective of the image. Lovely job!

Someday I would love to visit NM... the colors and light speak directly to my heart...at least for now I can visit through my friends photos!
ReplyDeleteEven dark skies look great over New Mexico!
ReplyDeleteThat is so lovely shot! I haven't seen like a string of peppers hanged in front of the front door. Just lovely!

I shall walk down those streets someday, since I live not terribly far away!
ReplyDeleteTHE CLOUD FIDDLER
Hey, diddle, diddle,
The clouds on my fiddle
Are making it hard to play!
Hey, diddle, diddle,
I need a new fiddle
With all the clouds whisked away!

ReplyDeleteNice view of the sky. Lovely contrasts.
ReplyDeleteyou are so blessed to live where you live. I'm almost jealous. but no, I don't want to go there. I love that you change your header image so often, each one is a delight. have a beautiful weekend Clair1
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely. To you it seems like dark skies. To me it seems bright and blue, lol. I can almost feel the heat in the day.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful shot, Clair. Makes me homesick for Mexico, makes me miss my parents who wintered 25+ years in Mexico.
