I spent some wonderful years growing up in Marin County, California. The hills and trees looked just like this.
My first job was Bookmobile Library Assistant for the Marin County Free Library. Every other Friday we went out to Bodega Bay to bring books to children in one-room schoolhouses.
On our recent trip to California, we took a morning to recreate that journey. Things looked pretty much the same--beautiful green rolling hills, dairy cattle, tiny towns, and lots of water.
And lovely blue skies.
For more skies--some nostalgic, perhaps, like mine--be sure to visit
Skywatch Friday.
Is there a better job than working on a bookmoblie? It sounds like the best of so many things I enjoy about life!

My SWF
I didn't realize you were a Cal gal! Bodega Bay is really beautiful. Thankfully it is close enough for a day trip. It is one of my fave drives, especially thru the farmlands before seeing the water.
ReplyDeleteMy sky is here
I love the last photo, it's gorgeous, and the first one looks like Marin County when I used to visit there in the mid-70s.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies! (And yes, the bookmobile sounds like a wonderful job.)

ReplyDeleteI love Bodega Bay, there is a nice campground nearby. Perhaps it is time to go back. After the summer crowds are gone, that is.
ReplyDeleteso lovely...I especially love the last image!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Marin County landscapes, ClairZ! I live a few hours east of there on the other side of CA. My mother's first job (after we 4 kids reached the teen years in about 1962) was on a bookmobile in San Bernardino County--definitely not a pretty as Marin County, but she loved the job.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these lovely pictures.
It's beautiful and I hope it stays that way for a very long time. You were fortunate to find the area pretty much the same as you remember. It seems like whenever I go back to a place in my past, a LOT has changed.
ReplyDeleteThe second and third shot could have cone either from your or my camera.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
