May Sky, Wind, and Snow for Skywatch

Wind power in the Palm Desert, California
I snapped this shot as we drove through southern California last week. We were surprised to see the snow still on the mountains surrounding the Palm Desert, near Palm Springs.

For skies all over the world, be sure to visit Skywatch Friday.

  1. What a wonderful picture! It's very hard for me to imagine snow right now, as we are under a smothering, oppressive heat wave here in the N.C. mountains that shows no signs of abating any time soon. Looking at your photo made me feel a bit cooler though...

  2. Terrific capture, Clair! I'm amazed -- although I shouldn't be considering our weather this year -- but the snow is still quite deep on all the mountains around us here in Seattle! Hope your week is going well! Enjoy!

  3. I though that looked more like Southern California than New Mexico. Wild weather yesterday in Wheatland. We watched the storms from our back patio and some of the lightning and hail made it down to us.

  5. Did you mean to copy the design of the snow with the wind turbines? Amazing capture and notion that there's still snow somewhere in June!
    Happy trails, Claire.

  13. Great shot, love the mountain, just not a great fan of masses wind-generators although they do go well in the composition.
