Shirty Pierre: The Slippery Slope

We are NOT the kind of people who talk to their pets, referring to each other as "Mommy" and "Daddy."

We do not call the dogs "our kids," although Beez does refer to them as his little Pirate Band.

We never, never dress our dogs up in clothes. Well, hardly ever, if you insist on counting those darling little Halloween costumes that Dadd.. oops, I mean Beez bought last year.

Leny the Pirate

However, little Bertie Pierre has an underarm itchy thing going on that he insists on scratching. The only thing that stops him is an antibiotic ointment that he finds soothing, but tasty. To keep him from eating the stuff, the vet's office (forgetting his diminutive size) suggested having him wear one of our tee shirts. We did better than that--I found some baby onesies at Walmart and cut off the bottom half of each one. With a bit of tailoring, we had ourselves a wardrobe, @ 5 for $10, and Bert is leaving his itches alone.

Introducing Shirty Bert in his finest midshipman attire

Oh no you don't, I draw the line at midshipman pants!!

Sorry, got to run

Can we go to Gap Kids next time, please?

How can you resist those pleading little hands! I would love to take Shirtie Bertie on a tiny shopping spree. We could have a tiny lunch afterwards. I could get a pink Paris Hilton doggy purse to carry him in. ok, maybe a blue one. We could call him Pursie Pierre.

Too stinkin' cute. I'm feeling myself starting to slip down that slope.

See, this is why they call you Bucksnort, because of what I might have done when reading your comment if only I drank more coffee!!

Pursie Pierre is perfect! I sense another adventure coming. But first, we need props...

Bertie is willing (wait, that reminds me of Dickens, and that could be a whole other series). Ah, the world is limitless, out here on the slippery slope.

props.... hmmmm..... tiny cowboy boots, tiny cowboy hat and tiny lariat..... tiny headband and tiny legwarmers (two pairs).... tiny baggy pants, tiny backwards baseball cap and tiny gold chain....

Isn't retirement fun?

that is so cute! and what a great idea! our dogs are too big for clothes but those 'dog blankets' you see in horse catalogues are so cute and coty has such a thin coat that i have one for him...he loves it and prances around!

He looks fancy in his stripes ...

When Bella had her tumor taken out, she wore an old t shirt for a month or more ... Blue was her favorite color.

Oh dear, that is quite simply - cute. Sorry C. but it's a winner outfit. That was a great choice.

That doggie is the cutest thing in that little shirt. The begging photo is the best! Great idea on your part.

Yay, more Bertie Pierre shots! Oh my, that is just ridiculously cute. He does need a little sailor hat, though. :-) The onesies were such a clever idea.

Leny looks pretty sharp in that pirate get-up, too. One question: Do dog pirates say "Aaargh...!" or "Aaaarff..."? :-)
