Blue Neon Crosses

Our Lady of Health in the old Las Cruces Mesquite neighborhood is my favorite church to photograph.
The Mass is held in both English and Spanish

The colorful facade is so different from the more austere New England meetinghouses of my old town in New Hampshire

The crosses are outlined in blue neon, a beautiful (and so Southwestern) sight against the nighttime desert sky. You can get an idea of what they look like when lit here, in this photo taken at dusk.

They do seem to be very colorful in your part of the states. Love the evening shot too.

(I'm going on a mini va ca tomorrow. Arizona ... don't know if I'll be posting or not)

That is a beautiful church.
The Southwest and New England, you have lived in two beautiful and photogenic places but so different.

I think this church is beautiful.I always wonder why Irish and English churches of any denomination, are so dull.Good architecture, but unadorned,no colour
I would love to go to Mass at this church,it looks welcoming.

It is a beautiful church. I love the unique buildings of the southwest. Perhaps I will get to visit them one day ;-)

I have never even imagined that there were crosses outlined in blue neon!
I looked at your post from 2008 and what struck me were the amount of pleasures that come from being comfortably warm out of doors, even after dark. Not something we experience very often.

What a beautiful church! I have never seen crosses lit up with blue neon at night; it looks very pretty in your dusk photo.
