The desert southwest is so much fun to photograph your shots are making me anxious for our upcoming tour (I do hope congress doesn't spoil it by shutting down the parks).
I just love the title of your post. There's something about those two words together, 'dark skies', that sends a shiver down my spine.
Everything about this shot is so exotic to me - the pavement construction, the chillis, even the telegraph pole - or are they electric wires? To say nothing of dark blue skies.

It's lovely. To you it seems like dark skies. To me it seems bright and blue, lol. I can almost feel the heat in the day.
