Adobe houses are made of mud. They need a certain amount of upkeep and care or they will return to the earth from whence they came.
My house (not shown, but you can see it here) is made of adobe. I take care of it, keeping this place in mind. This abandoned and crumbling mud house is in a beautiful setting with trees and fields all around and wonderful mountain views. Once a place for a family's dreams, it is now a ruin melting back into the ground.

Adobe is beautiful but definitely requires the maintenance.
At least when adobe houses are abandoned they gradually return to earth which is more than we can say about abandoned frame houses. Terrific capture and I do love your BLUE skies! Great post as always, Clariz! Hope your week has gone well! Enjoy the weekend!

There's a peacefulness to knowing that the mud will return to where it came from...beautiful skies Claire!
The photo certainly makes a comment!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Your house is lovely! Hmmm. I bet it doesn't take long for mature to reclaim adobe if it's not taken care of.
These houses are so beautiful and I love that they go back into the ground when they are no longer needed. I'm sure that it requires work to live in one as you say but the ecological impact of such a house is less than most I think. Have a happy weekend ;-)
Thanks for sharing both sides of adobe. Your own adobe house is so dreamlike and wonderful.
Happy weekend!
i wasn't aware of the upkeep of the adobe. i've always imagined mysefl living in one.
So many places just abandoned and so goes the stories. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Interesting post! We don't build adobe houses in Norway. Here it's mostly wooden ....
Enjoy your weekend!
I found all the homes or adobes fascinating when I visited Santa Fe. I would like to have gone in one. I understand they are just as lovely as any other home.
I really need to learn more about adobe. I know very little about it. May I say how much I love your header photo? Super!
