There isn't anything special about this photo of the mockingbird's tree. It would be wonderful if I could present it to you with the sounds I heard that day--the wind in the grass, the mockingbird's song, and the meadowlark answering him from just down the path.
As it is, there is just a photo of a tree surrounded by a lot of open space. I've gotten used to these huge expanses with no people and only the sounds of nature. I don't think I would feel right if I couldn't see these immense blue skies of New Mexico.

I love the horizon line in this photo!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why songs have been popping into my head lately when I visit here! (Today it's "... and if that mocking bird don't sing, I'm gonna buy you a diamond ring..." :)
ReplyDeleteYou could always start making video clips!
Trees surrounded by open space... YES!
I disagree - it's a special photo. you've made it that and more. I'm so happy I'm able to see those glorious New Mexico skies through your eyes. If I can't see them through my own by being right there, the next best thing is this.
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to be there to be able to imagine the singing mockingbird in such a gorgeous scene! Terrific capture and so much beauty! Hope you have a great weekend, Clairz!

There really is nothing like New Mexico sky Clair, you're absolutely right! I've often wished I knew how to take and post videos for the mockingbird song. They're pretty much the only perching bird we see around here.
ReplyDelete(My unknown juvenile, by the way, turned out to be a LIMPKIN. Definitely a new bird for us. )
I would love to hear the sounds with you ;-)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful composition and colors! It's really pleasing to the eye.
ReplyDeleteYup, nothing beats that big blue New Mexico sky!

A little birdie told me,
Although I don’t know why,
That if I were to look up,
Way up into the sky,
I’d see some wondrous planets,
The moon and sun and stars –
There before my very eyes
Blazed Jupiter and Mars!

Beautiful shot.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you've framed this image. Alas, we have no mockingbirds where I live. I will have to settle for listening to them through your image. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the mockingbird and the meadowlark, Clair, but this photo is beautiful even if they're not in it.

looks lovely to me!
ReplyDeleteHi Clair — Thanks for visiting my blog, especially for going back to the beginning. That's what it's all about, the chapters in the beginning, but I took up posting to memes when I hit writer's block.
ReplyDeleteNew chapters will be forthcoming, eventually, one hopes!

I can imagine the wind, with the graceful, upswept branches of the tree and the tiny, wispy clouds. But I've never heard a mockingbird. I had to do a Youtube search to get an idea of it.
