The last red maple leaves on an almost bare branch
Are startling against the black and charred house wall
I want to take you with me and fly away above the flowering flames
I want you to tell me it was just a bad dream
I want you to tell me that it didn’t hurt at all
Time has frozen since then, jarred into stillness by disbelief and horror.
Words and pictures that I want to deny run through my head like a wailing musical score, playing behind the common events of everyday life.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, especially the dog too ( funny animals are usually the first to escape these things). House fires are the worst-the damage looks quite extensive, do they know how it happened? What a shame nice looking house too.
Anyway I love your moon shot and thanks for dropping by my blog. Take care:)
Thank you for your kind comment, Jane. I have more to say about this awful fire and how it started. That story will appear on Monday.
I'm so sorry, Clair. What a tragic loss---my sincere condolences.
I am sorry that you have had to experience this loss. If it is any comfort to you, more than likely the carbon monoxide was in the air early on. I do know that God/Buddha/Spirit never let's a being be in pain. Shock is a great and rapid gift to the body which is why it doesn't bother me to watch Animal Planet (abuse cases). Shock turns off all physical feeling in the body and gives an overall feeling of well being. It's only in healing ~ in getting better that they would have encountered pain. I hope you take comfort in that. Grief is painful. When you care, it's part of the package of loss. Take Care,
Suzanne
My condolences go to you also; I can't imagine the shock and grief you must be feeling.
Reminder to all readers: check your smoke detectors this week!!
I am so sorry. Sometimes I think losing friends is harder, especially in these days where other friends don't necessarily know and share the loss. It feels lonely. And such a horrible, shocking way to lose them. Be kind to yourself as you grieve over this.
Clair I am so so sorry! Sending love and comforting, good thoughts.
I am so sorry to hear that tragedy... my sincere condolences.
Oh no.....I am so sorry.
I do understand a little of what you are going through, though. I'll write more in a later post.

I am so very very sorry to hear about this. House fires are my worst fears. There are so many things psychologically disturbing about a house fire. My thoughts are with you.
Clair, my deepest sympathy. What a horrible shock to you. I cannot even imagine. You will be in my thoughts.
