Of course, if you hang around at sunrise or sunset, you see a whole different scene and the kind of colors found only in the 64-crayon Crayola box, the one we always wanted and seldom got when we were kids.
On the day I went to White Sands, the whites were so white and the sun was so strong that the tears ran down my cheeks and I could hardly open my eyes.
Those people in the distance were sledding on the dunes, by the way. They obviously had better sunglasses than mine!
Just for fun, I played a bit with the color. I wish I had some sunglasses that would do this.
For all kinds of skies in all kinds of colors, go to Skywatch.

Oh my gosh, those white sands are amazing! I will definitely have to add this place to my list of places to see before I die.
Wow, that is beautiful. Now these Sands would be something to see - or try to see.
They are beautiful aren't they, Clariz? Really stunning and your photos capture them perfectly -- I do envy you your photography classes!! Haven't been there in many years so these were a real treat! Have a wonderful weekend!

There's a lot to be said for "elemental". Especially when it gives you that kind of blue! I've only flown over White Sands as far as I can remember, but it's impressive even form 35,000 feet.
That was actually a parachute, not a balloon. I don't know exactly how the parachutist came to be where he was, but it was a pretty bad place to try and put down.
And no, it was definitely not me. I see no reason to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.
Beautiful, lovely and fantastic shots !!Great post!!
Sledding in the sand ... if I were younger, that would have been fun.
Like how you played with the pic ..
It's amazing how well your camera captured this when your eyes were shedding tears.
Goodnes - really eye-watering, but what a wonderful scene.
How peaceful the first image looks. It must be really awesome to be there.

That's an area I want to visit one of these days. I thought it was snow at first until I read your post. Your photos of it are fantastic and capture it perfectly.
Marvelous job on the sand dunes. They do make for some very interesting sights,
