When we drive through the Tularosa Basin on our way from Alamogordo to Las Cruces, New Mexico, we always marvel at the amazing skies. Something is always happening, something that makes me put down my knitting (imagine that!) and gaze up at the miraculousness of it all.
One tends to think big thoughts in the Tularosa.

Klaus Peter, 1960-2011
Today's Skywatch is dedicated to the memory of Klaus Peter. According to the Skywatch site, "he was an active participant, supporter, and eventually owner/maintainer of Skywatch and the founder of That's My World." He will be missed by so many, although we may not have met him in person.

Beautiful! It could almost be an oil painting. I don't know what it is about the desert, but it always seems to produce such fabulous colors.

This is like magic painting!
Our nature is calm, no big storms or hurricanes, but of course during winters we have thick snow drifts about five months and many times about -30 degrees Celsius / -22 Fahrenheit, perhaps it is enough dramatic to us :)

Wow, what a sky. When I lived in New Mexico I always told people that I was going to attend Tularosa Tech.
That is one of the top skies ever, even for your state which has the loveliest ones ever all the time!

We have something in common - I was a New Englander who moved to CO more than a decade ago. I am now, most definitely, a Coloradan. I knew that it was my home as soon as I saw it.
