The wind was blowing hard and these birds were barely clinging to their wire as the storm rolled in toward them. There is something about this photograph that sums up my feelings of fear and fragility in the face of our recent very frightening storm.

I love that shot, Clair. You really have the most amazing skies there. I'm always amazed at the toughness of birds---they look so vulnerable and fragile, yet manage to come intact through the harshest storms.
You are so right there is something quite eerie about storms and that picture captures it. We are supposed to get bad storms today.
I can only echo what theouthernlady has written. It is an eerie looking sky. Those kinds of storms are one of the things I most definitely don't miss! It is rare that we even see lightening or hear thunder, it does get windy and it does rain, but mostly it is gentle. Stay safe and have a great "stormless" weekend, Clair!

Great shot that captures the expectant energy of a storm.
Fantastic shot. It does look ominous.
Nicely captured!
Happy Sky Watch Friday!
Those are some tough little birds!
The skies of an impending storm are always interesting to me ,even more so than the actual storm. I love to go outside right at the cusp of the breaking storm.
Very visible the gloomy cloud. We need rain here too in MI but not storm ^_^ Happy Friday!

I love the beautiful skies that the storms produce.... but if I had gone thru your recent big storm, I'd be scared, too. I once was driving through Kansas during tornado season as a funnel cloud went over. My knees were literally knocking!
I love watching the sky during storms. The clouds are amazing. Great capture. Happy skywatching!
Great capture of the dramatic sky. Love it.
Great shot of an angry sky...and of some strong birds!
