I put together this Skywatch post before our recent stretch of below-zero weather. I'm not so excited to have snow now. But I did want to show you that we get occasional snowstorms out here in the Chihuahuan Desert.
There, I hope you've seen enough, because I am not planning for us to have any more snowstorms. Or freezing weather. Or broken water pipes.
For sky and weather photos from all around the world, be sure to visit Skywatch Friday.

Oh dear! You're correct that I didn't know you sometimes got snow there!
Oh, there are so many of us feeling the same way and I'm with you -- that's enough! Great shots, now lets move on to spring, sunshine and warm weather! Hope you get a break for the weekend!

Awesome New Mexico scenes! Beautiful!
Oh no bad news on the water pipe! We are snowbound too again, it's starting to get old! I enjoyed the mountains thank you.
Wow your mountain looks like it is dusted with sugar, love it. Thanks for sharing!

I should have mentioned in the post that these photos were taken just over the line in Texas when we were on our way down to El Paso. New Mexico is just over these hills.
You just tell the weather what to do!
It is a bit shocking to see your landscapes under snow.
Nice photos. I knew you got snow but I'm sorry the cold spell hit you so hard.
I've been to El Paso three times so I know how that looks.
Sorry about your wintery misfortune, but it is cool to see snow in the desert. Love that bottom photo. It was one degree on my way to work yesterday... ooooh, but today in the 30's- yeehaw. I'm about ready for spring, too... though it's a ways off.
Beautiful photos. NM is such a pretty state--so diverse. Mickie
it's beautiful in a desolate, gray way. Not everything can be cheery and warm....nice shots!
Wonderful grey skies. It's beautiful. Hope you'll stay warm. May you have a less chilly weather.
What a lovely scene!!
very unique...nice!
Please check out my Skywatch entry as well. Thanks!
your skywatch photos are so brilliant. I just love them.
I enjoyed your comments. and chuckle. We have mountains, you folk. And I grew up in a valley BELOW the mountains that was still above 4,000 feet. A doctor once told me my valley lungs are about a third larger than average because of the altitude. My own pipes froze in the single digit cold here in Texas, but so far seem to have unfroze without damage. I will watch, but I won't worry. No sense in it.
Are you saying you had enough of cold and snow when you lived in New England? Aren't you glad you aren't there this year?
Your snow covered mountain shots are beautiful. Great shots! This has been a very cold and snowy winter, I hope it ends soon. Happy Skywatching.
We're with you. Let the temperatures rise!
great shots,
