Why I Don't Live in El Paso, for Skywatch

I'm sure there are pretty parts of El Paso, but this is what I see when we travel through: Blue skies, yes; but too many cars, too many people, and too much speed and noise.

I-10 heading north

Looking toward downtown El Paso with poor, war-torn Juarez, Mexico in the distance

I like a little more peace and space around me: A little more solitude, as you can see from the header photo of Beez at White Sands (click here if the header photo has been changed) and from the photo below, which was taken not too far from where we live.

Looking across wetlands at the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park toward the Organ Mountains. We saw a coyote out for a ramble on the day we were there

To see both urban and rural skies from all around the world, please visit Skywatch Friday.

Hmmmm El Paso hasn't changed in the 50 years since I have been there!!! Gotten worse, no doubt though!! Lovely skies if you can take the chance/time to look up!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Clairz!!

Hehe! I once stayed in a campground in El Paso...very close to a busy airport. It sure was LOUD!

I feel that way sometimes when I go home to San Diego. I miss it 'cause my family is there, and the weather is sublime.... but growing up in a small town of 5 K, I tend to enjoy a slower pace, & the traffic noise & speed get to me! I get really anxious driving on the freeways there. It even seems crowded in Santa Fe sometimes. I've never been to El Paso.

I am a city girl at heart, but I have to admit that a city full of exhaust fumes and concrete overpasses leaves me cold.

I'll stick to Tel Aviv for now :).

It is scary how much concrete we overlay the earth with.
I can see that you need your wide horizons and skies.

I love your last photo.
I was only ever in El Paso in July and I remember getting out of an airconditioned car to go into an airconditioned house... walking into the heat was like walking into a wall.
Yes, I definitely like your last photo best!!

Great skies... that last one is just outstanding. Traffic in El Paso, looks like our LA traffic.

Offhand, I'd say the Mesilla Valley is preferable to El Paso any day!

Do not favor night over day;
They always look up,
The sky is their cup,
And keeping it full’s their cachet!

Ooh, I love you header and the photo in your post (taken near to where you live). I can see I wouldn't like to live in El Paso either as it looks like far too many freeways. That song..."out in the west Texas town of El Paso..." conjures up a more peaceful place than what I see in the photos. Maybe it used to be different.

I also like a little space around me, which is why I live outside the city limits. I've never been to El Paso, although my county in Colorado is called El Paso!
