The Prairie Remembered, for Skywatch

It's almost been a year since we moved to the desert from the prairie. Here are some of my favorite photos from our time in eastern New Mexico, plus a photo from a road trip to California. Can you spot it?

Left to right
Top row: Portales, New Mexico (just south of Clovis), and our old Clovis neighborhood with rooftops
Bottom row: Our old Clovis neighborhood again with rooftops, and Mojave Desert, California rest stop

For more sky photos from all around the world, be sure to visit Skywatch.

Nice skies, Clair. I'd say the first one is from Clovis... because it's flat! :) The California one is either #3 or #4.
I'm guessing #4.

I can't really tell which one is California, Clair, but they are all lovely. I love your sky pictures. I thought of you the other day when we had the rare occurence of lenticular clouds. Benjamin said they looked like video game clouds! :-)

Not sure which is California, but I do know they are all fantastic captures! Really stunning and breathtaking colors! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Clair!!

I can see why they are among your favourites. Each one is very beautiful.

All of them are breathtaking, and the huge one is my guess for the road trip. It is lovely.

Lovely......hmmm, #4 is the California tree??? It doesn't look like it's having to reach quite as high for the sunshine as the others. ;-) Could even be a bit windswept, i.e. by the ocean?

I'm guessing #4 is the road trip because I can see a vehicle.
However, they are beautiful sky photos. Good work.

For those who commented and made a guess about which photo was taken in California I have added locations above. If you guessed no. 4, you were right.

After living here in the Chihuahuan Desert, I found that I absolutely loved the Mojave Desert in California.

You are too tricky for me...or I'm just hopelessly Eastern-ized. They all look like they could be the same state...lovely, of course, but I couldn't even have made a wild guess as to which was CA! So sad...LT needs to take me out more. Have missed your pics! Good to be back!

Excellent collage! There's nothing quite like the wide expanse of prairie skies. I live in the prairie province of Alberta.

You do seem to attract pretty sunsets wherever you go. That's a nice quality to have, whether living in prairie or desert!

This really brings out just how different each sunset is. A great chronicle of the skies.
