Oh, No, the Flash Went Off! for Skywatch

Someday soon I'm going to take a digital photography class. When that happens, I hope to have more control over my camera. In the meantime, my flash still goes off sometimes when I don't want it to do so. This was one of those times and I kind of like the spooky shot that resulted, even though you can hardly tell that the moonrise is what I was trying to capture.

Yes, yes I do like this photo, even though all the little houses appear to be moving. Someday I'm going to get a tripod, too.

To see some photographers who know how to make their cameras behave, be sure to visit Skywatch Friday. And, yes, I know it's only Thursday. One of these days I'm going to take a class all about the days of the week. I really am.

I really like these! Not very spooky but very arty.

Love your night shots, Clariz, and I have the same problems with my camera and I, too, want to take a class. My son did buy me a tripod for my birthday though. I'm never sure what day it is either, but we seem to post about the same time so what the heck!! Have a great weekend!

I really like the framing and light in these shots. Tripods are nice, but only in the local area - mine never comes on vacation so I just make do with hand-held or bracing the camera on something.

They have a surreal quality about them that makes for artful and creative photos.

Great unintended shots.

I bought a cheap little tripod, and it has helped tremendously on some shots.

I don't know how to control my digital camera either. Instruction books are undecipherable.

It's a great shot, the flash illuminates the branches just the right amount.

We have the same ambitions. A class is necessary - the instruction books are all written in Martian. But I like these shots, even if they did surprise you!

Speaking of which, you asked whether American English presents us with challenges. We hear so much of it that there aren't too many surprises, but my husband and I do correct our children when they say things like 'movie' instead of 'film', or 'driver's licence' instead of 'driving licence'. (And Blogger has put a little wiggly red line under 'licence' because I've used the British spelling!
